“I’m Seriously Quitting Smoking…”
I just got a message from a fellow crohnee today about his disease and smoking, etc…
“I’ve read plenty of times that smoking is bad for Crohn’s disease, but to be honest, I shrugged it off…
However, as of recent, I had major surgery, am on EVERY possible drug you can imagine and yet still seem to be having another flare up now - I CAN’T BELIEVE IT!!!
I think it’s time I stopped screwing around - the only thing I can think of (that is bad) that I am still doing is smoking.
That’s it - I’m done - I know it won’t be easy, but I’m going to quit.
Thanks!”
He wished to remain anonymous - but I just wanted to say “ALRIGHT!! QUIT MAN QUIT!”

i just had major surgey too…my appendix ruptured and i had an absess and also i actually had a hole in my bowel…it was so bad that they had to remove a piece of my small and large intestine..and im only 16. i too smoke…not all the time…but when im at school with my friends and they’re smoking ill often take a drag or they’ll share it with me. it’s been in the back of my mind that smoking could be making it worse. because i was in remission before i had the surgery…and i woke up one morning and boom…i was sick…but right before that was when i was really starting to smoke heavy…for me anyways…what i am told is that smoking lowers your emune system. but the drugs im on already have my emune system so low that i can get sick really easy…so smoking doesnt help at all..and i think im going to take your advise and quit too…thanks for listening:):)
