What if your body reacts to Remicade?

Yeap, that is actually possible. How do I know? Because the last time I was in the chair getting my shot, they started me up very slow (as they always do).

Slowly they kept increasing me, little by little - I was completely out of it (in and out of sleep and watching those little hospital TVs that you can wind around on those big arm things).

Anyways, the nurse walks up, hits a few buttons and is just walking away when I get a weird feeling go through my body.

Actually, I now think I know what it feels like to be a woman going through hot flashes :)   Because that is exactly what happened to me!

So, I ignore it and all of a sudden ANOTHER one - but, I ignore that too…

Then something happens that I simply could not ignore - my heart starts to RACE.

I call the nurse and she comes running over and stops the medication (and it all magically stops). That was an ALLERGIC reaction to Remicade.

But no worries, the nurse told me - they were just going to give me some Salumedrol (liquid prednisone) and they’d be able to finish it up.

Well, they infused about 150mg or so of that stuff in me and slowly finished Remicade right up (although it did take about 7 hours!)

Either way, I looked into it more and found that if you have allergic reactions to Remicade you actually can still get it by getting the proper medications.

However, there are certain times when the reaction is just too strong.

As always, this is just my story - I’m not a doctor and you should always consult your physician for advice regarding medications.
