A New ‘Remicade-Like’ Treatment For Crohn’s?
ABC 7 News recently reported on a new treatment for Crohn’s Disease, a drug called, CNI-1493. This drug also blocks the TNF agents (like Remicade), but doctors are claiming that it is safer.
Of course, it’s still in “testing,” but initial results are looking promising!

Quote From ABCLocal.go.com
Dr. Alan Buchman: “The idea is we can block this inflammatory cascade and stop the inflammation from occurring.”
The drug has other advantages.
Dr. Alan Buchman: “It’s also small molecule, which means it is not a full protein and it’s unlikely that the body will develop a reaction against it.”

One of the biggest problems with Crohn’s Disease is that your body can begin developing antibodies to it and create a reaction.
–> I would know, I JUST had a reaction to it a few days ago while getting it and they had to infuse 165mg of Prednisone in me to make it stop (that’s ALOT).
So, apparently, they may soon have a drug that has the same positive impact as Remicade but without the potential reactions!
